All Seasons Houseboats
Floating Retreats:
Branding helps redefine a Murray River Houseboat Company
The Challenge
All Seasons Houseboats approached me in 2005 to assist them in rebranding their houseboat company. They started with 2 older style boats and grew their company to a fleet of 15 by 2020. The old branding was dated and lacked any differentiation in the marketplace.
The Solution
Once I’d researched the region, competitors and opportunity I’d presented All Seasons Houseboats with a strategy for their branding. This included a simple yet bold design that was to be delivered across all their visual communications. The key to branding is consistency. We utilised the boats as floating billboards and it gave the impression that All Seasons Houseboats were everywhere.
The Deliverables
- Website
- Logo
- Signage
- Graphic Design
- Photography
- Video
The Process
When the client approved the logo concepts I was able to start to consider the overall design of the houseboats. It was important that the boats had a design that was bold, consistent and fit the new brand voice.
I’d developed visuals for a new houseboat being built and this was applied by the signwriter. The houseboat had its core messages and contacts on the boat of website, phone number and large visual branding.
Follow the development of other houseboats in the fleet over time we were concentrating on other visual elements the client could market. This included a good strategy for website promotions and early brochure designs. The website slowly grew in functionality as the internet services did for business. It also included the development of early social media, image library and marketing.
This has been a wonderful client to work for over the years and they’ve implanted many strategies I’ve introduced with successful results and value.
The Website
All Seasons Houseboats logo
The concept for the logo was based on various needs. The logo utilises various elements of the client’s location in the semi-arid landscape of Mildura. Colours include blue for the sky and water, orange for the sands and sun and gold for the sunsets and sunrises. The logo has a slight nautical feel and typography utilises both casual and contemporary fonts. The logo and style have worked well since 2005 and established a strong presence in the marketplace.
All Seasons Houseboats video
Over a period of years, there’s been a series of walk through videos for each houseboat in the fleet.
All Seasons Houseboats Signage
As part of the All Seasons Houseboats branding is the development of the houseboat signage. A big part of the brand’s development is the consistency of the houseboat’s signage. The goal is to have all the houseboats with the same look and feel with regard to the visual elements.
All Seasons Houseboats Website
Like all businesses nowadays, a website is fundamental to the successful operation of the business. The development of the All Seasons Houseboats website needed to have a back end content management system for the client to make updates to content. The website includes videos, dynamic content, social media links etc. The website is responsive and integrates the client’s houseboat booking system.
All Seasons Houseboats Photography
Working with All Seasons Houseboats over many years has seen a diverse range of photography of their amazing houseboats as well as their marina and more broadly the region. The houseboat photo shoots are designed to show the product off in the best light for customers to get a genuine sense of the quality of the boats and experience. Shooting the houseboats keeps the brand consistent for customers expectations of quality and consistency.
All Seasons Houseboats Container
All Seasons Houseboats are very good at capitalising on opportunities. They had a shipping container in their marina for maintenance and I designed a large format print for the back and side of the container to promote their houseboats. This included information about each houseboats including plans and QR codes.
The 40 foot container proved to be a great way to promote their houseboats for both photos and layout and a call to action for the website and 1800 number. When their new shed was built a new sign was created for the side wall.
All Seasons Houseboats Pull Up Banner
The design for the All Seasons Houseboats pull up banner was to be used for promotions, trade fairs and alike.
The banner worked within the parametres of the clients visual identity established by Brand Action. We kept the design bold, open and ‘loose’ creating a flexible design and casual feel that reflects a houseboat holiday with All Seasons.
All Seasons Houseboat and Holiday Park cross promotion signage
This large 5 metre x 1 metre sign was designed to promote All Seasons Holiday Park’s other businesses with the All Seasons Houseboats and Mildura Dockside Cafe.
I’ve utilised a strong design and strong colours to been seen on the busy highway and included the use of QR codes for foot traffic. With strong branding and calls to action the signs have great visual appear and contemporary elements that fits into the visual brand assests.
All Seasons Houseboats Brochure
This brochure is fold out size to A2 (594 x 420mm). It folds down to DL making it perfect for brochure racks and posting. It was a challenging design as it need to fit in cleanly their beautiful houseboats and reflect other key elements of their business including their marina location in Mildura along with their team, cafe and other experiences.
The brochure looks fantastic all opened up and really promotes the essential elements of their business while allowing clients to engage more with their website and social media.
All Seasons Houseboats Marketing
The client requested a series of posters for outdoor use to promote their other businesses. This includes their holiday park and marina cafe. I designed a local map with a range of drives and a QR code for local guests to explore the region. The signs were digitally printed on UV protected film and mounted to ACM for durability.
